About Senior School

Once the children enter the Senior School they learn to become independent, self-reliant and organised. Whilst they still have a form teacher and a form room, they are now taught by subject specialists for every lesson and move between specialist rooms in a campus packed full of excellent facilities. This acts as the perfect preparation for transfer to secondary school at both 11+ and 13+.

We expect the children to behave in a community spirited manner and we encourage this through a badge system. All children in Year 6 are awarded a bronze badge at the start of the year and every child has the opportunity to advance to silver then gold during the course of the year. Some children reach gold quite quickly, others take longer, but the understanding is that all can achieve gold by the end of the year. If they do not, it will be because they have, in some way, let themselves down or not fully understood the trust and responsibility placed upon them by the school.

In the top two years (Years 7 and 8) all pupils are treated as young adults and afforded privileges and responsibilities which they would not necessarily receive at a senior school. Deserving Year 8 pupils begin the year as prefects because we believe that they can accept responsibility and respond appropriately. Each year a Head Boy and Head Girl are appointed by the Headmaster.
