Years 7 and 8 follow the Common Entrance syllabus in English, Mathematics, Science (Chemistry, Physics and Biology), Languages, Religious Education, History and Geography. The work undertaken is a step up on National Curriculum expectations and culminates in 13+ examinations in the last half-term of Year 8. Some coursework is completed for Geography and Religious Education.
Some independent Senior Schools have their own entrance examination and children’s Common Entrance examination results are used for setting purposes rather than school entry.
Children not wishing to attend a senior independent school will follow the same curriculum but school Schemes of Work will be adapted accordingly.
