Woodrow High House 2009

The Year 7s have just spent three days at the Woodrow High House centre near Amersham as a start of the year teambuilding and bonding activity. They had a marvellous time as these photos from day 2 testify!

Scholarship and results

This year two children were awarded scholarships to Berkhamsted School and to Abbott's Hill. All children who applied to Senior Independent Schools were successful. These schools include:

11+ Information

Many parents of pupils at Chesham Preparatory School live in Buckinghamshire. Bucks Local Education Authority retains Grammar schools which are selective. Having a Bucks home post code (our school post code is not relevant) entitles parents to put their children forward for Grammar School selection tests at 11+. Children who “pass” the test are deemed suitable for a Grammar school education, while those who do not are allocated an Upper school place.

About Senior School

Once the children enter the Senior School they learn to become independent, self-reliant and organised. Whilst they still have a form teacher and a form room, they are now taught by subject specialists for every lesson and move between specialist rooms in a campus packed full of excellent facilities. This acts as the perfect preparation for transfer to secondary school at both 11+ and 13+.

Life in Senior School

Life in Senior school is very similar, and intentionally so, to that of a secondary school. All subjects are taught by specialists and children move around the school campus style, from department to department.
