Learning to Play in Lower School

At CPS we have been putting a lot of thought into what it is like to go out to play when you are in the Lower School. We are aware that some children relish the chance to be able to let off some steam and play energetic games. However other children would benefit from more choice. With this is mind we are in the process of designing and creating an environment that still has a lively area for games such as football but also has other stations set up.

The children have been involved sharing their ideas and Year 2 children completed a successful project where they designed their ideal playground. Some of the children then made a presentation of their ideas and designs to the staff in Lower School.

The playground will now be enhanced with an art area, which offers a range of materials, a large whiteboard and a large blackboard on the wall, an imaginative play area, a reading area, basketball area and a music and dance area. We are hoping that this will stimulate the children's imaginations and enhance their social interaction with one another.
