Children sit entrance tests for a wide number of local independent schools and many sit the Bucks Grammar School selection tests at 11+.
Approximately half the year group qualify for the Grammar School but not all these children will in fact take up their places. Some children transfer to independent schools at 11+ with a similar number doing so at 13+ via Common Entrance. It is most unusual for a child not to receive an offer from the parents' first choice independent school at 11+ and exceedingly rare at 13+. This is because the school has been carefully chosen to provide the most appropriate academic environment for each child.
Over the past four years, CPS pupils have gained academic and music awards/scholarships to a number of local schools.
We no longer administer the national tests at ages 7 and 11 (SATs). This practice ceased in 2008.
