Over the last few years Chesham Prep has developed links with the ‘Room 13' project in Caol, Scotland. This encourages children to take more responsibility for their art provision, primarily with subject relevant fund raising activities.
In house exhibitions and festivals are held bi-annually not only to celebrate Art at CPS but also to raise money for Artists in Residence. This initiative has proved very successful and to date children and adults have benefited from master classes with Indian and African artists.
In March 2009, CPS hosted an Art Exhibition with a photographic theme. April to July saw a term long residency with Emma Reynard a mosaics expert.
The school provides clubs in Pottery, Art and Craft and Painting with the possibility of Photography and Animation being introduced in 2010.
Talented Chesham Prep children exhibit their work annually at the Stowe Art Festival.
There is a comprehensive programme of visits to galleries and places of interest; The National Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, The Courtauld and Somerset House, The V and A , The Globe, St' Paul's to name but a few.
The work done as a result of the Art Department curriculum forms the basis for the wonderful displays seen throughout the school.
