Year 2 have a bubbly good time!
The afternoon event was held in a lovely old building at The Beacon School and we were one of eight teams. The team arrived with Mr Cohen in the school minibus, feeling slightly nervous – especially after one of the team informed the others that her sister had been in the team last year and had won the competition!
The competition was split into four rounds. The first two were worth 50 points each and involved the team solving approximately 10 maths problems in round 1 and then re-arranging some jigsaw pieces into certain shapes in round 2.
We were awarded 45 points in round 1 and 50 in round 2, gaining a narrow lead going into round 3. Rounds 3 and 4 involved problems being solved one at a time and then one team member quickly taking the solution up to the results table.
An excellent 3rd round meant that we could afford to be beaten by another school in round 4, yet still end the competition as clear winners.
The team each received a certificate and a book token for their fine efforts.
Congratulations to them all!
