On one journey, she actually stayed in Shackleton’s hut and saw many of his belongings which are still there over 100 years later!
There were also many animals to see, including elephant seals and baby penguins that looked like fluffy grey hot water bottles.
The temperature got as low as minus 50 at times, so lots of layers needed to be worn when venturing outside – but the boat that they were on was toasty warm inside.
It was an extremely interesting talk and the children had the opportunity to ask lots of questions – a really educational experience from someone who had actually been there and had first hand knowledge.
