The aims of our Nursery are to provide excellent foundations for future learning. Aims are based on four principles:

• Enabling environments
• Learning and development

The curriculum promotes these principles and is balanced, broad and extensive. We ensure that our curriculum is always relevant and we work with each child as an individual, monitoring progress and responding to their specific needs as required.

We believe that learning is fun and that self esteem and confidence are the most important predictors of future success. We aim to encourage determination and self-motivation so that every child develops a life-long love of learning.

Our school motto is: ‘Each for all and all for each’, which exemplifies the genuine feeling of togetherness and strong family values which permeate every area of school life. It is our belief that children deserve to develop and grow within a happy, friendly and supportive environment and that they learn best when they feel content, engaged, inspired and involved in the learning process.

The Nursery is also part of our Lower School which includes Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Our whole school holds many exciting activities throughout the school year. Nursery and Early Years children have opportunities to join in with these activities as appropriate.

Interacting with other parts of the School during the year helps to ensure that the children are perfectly prepared for a smooth transition into their Reception class and that they feel a part of the whole Chesham Preparatory School family.
