Particular emphasis is placed on the pupils enjoyment of and participation in a wide range ofsporting activities. Specialist teachers coach the technical and tactical elements of game play to help them develop the necessary skills required to compete at inter-house, inter-school, district, regional and national level.
Children are encouraged to work together towards a common aim and are taught the importance of winning with grace and losing with dignity. Regardless of ability, all pupils receive equal encouragement and have the opportunity to take part in all the sports on offer.
In games sessions children are prepared to work as a team and learn the skills required to play competitive matches with confidence.
Teams are generally selected on ability, although there are other factors such as attitude, effort and behaviour which will influence team selection. All pupils are given the chance to compete against teams of a similar strength in all of the major sports. Pupils from Year 3 enjoy an extensive fixture list against local schools.
