Examinations

Internal Examinations

Children do not sit formal exams before Year 5 (age 9) when children sit relatively short exam papers (tests) in all main academic subjects. These exams take place twice each year, currently in January and May. Children in Years 3 and 4 sit end of term tests as part of their regular ongoing assessment.

External Examinations

In Year 6 some children sit the Buckinghamshire Grammar School selection tests at 11+. Children also sit selection tests for many of the local independent schools or sit the Public Schools’ Common Entrance Examination.
