In Year 7 (post 11+) there are two forms each of approximately 16 pupils. Most of these children are existing CPS pupils but many children join the school at this stage for the final two years of Prep school education. Parents send their children to CPS at this stage for a variety of very good reasons; they might be new to the area and wish their child to attend Prep school until 13 when they will probably sit Common Entrance exams to Public schools or they may wish to delay the choice of secondary school until their child reaches 13. Pupils benefit from 2 years of intensive academic rigour in small classes where they are able to build their confidence and self esteem in a smaller school environment. We have a high record of sending children to their first choice of school in Year 9. Come what may, all pupils follow the Common Entrance syllabus which provides an excellent preparation for whichever secondary school lies ahead.

Assessment: Years 5 & 6
In Senior School entry is via an assessment process which includes a reading, writing and maths test. Children are invited to the school for a morning or a day’s visit to allow them to familiarize themselves with the school’s surroundings and to see for themselves what it might be like to be a pupil at the school. A Report from the pupil’s feeder school is requested at this time.
Assessment: Years 7 & 8
Entry to Year 7 is subject to a successful assessment day when pupils will sit tests in English, Maths, Verbal and non-verbal reasoning. Children are invited to the school for a morning or a day’s visit to allow them to familiarize themselves with the school’s surroundings and to see for themselves what it might be like to be a pupil at the school. A Report from the pupil’s feeder school is requested at this time.
