We meet the needs of all children with a highly bespoke approach that engenders a love of learning. Having high expectations for all children, combined with teaching that allows challenge, enables us to meet pupils’ varying needs and capabilities.
Small class numbers ensure teachers really know their pupils and adapt teaching accordingly. Groupings are flexible so that those children who quickly grasp are able to move on and work at a faster pace; equally those children who need extra time to consolidate their learning can have it. All the same learning is covered and is tailored such that each child works towards their individual targets and reaches their potential through a personalised learning plan
Children are provided with as broad and varied a curriculum from a very early age:
- Pre-Prep and on – Subject specialist teachers for Physical Education, Music, Computing, French and Spanish
- Year 3 and on – children start the major team sports and begin swimming lessons
- Year 5 and 6 – all lessons are taught by different subject specialists, beginning the transition to secondary education
- Outdoor learning is incorporated into the school curriculum across all subjects.
Our unique outdoor learning area encourages and helps native British Wildlife and is used for extracurricular activities such as Environmental and Gardening Clubs.
Providing opportunities for Academic stretch
Class teachers and subject specialists give children the opportunity to:
- Read more widely by providing extended classroom resource, books and artefacts
- Extend reading scope outside the school e.g. visits to museums, galleries, concerts, plays and other outside activities
- Join local clubs, e.g. sport, chess, historical societies, orienteering, orchestras
- Join extra-curricular activities in school, e.g. STEM, Mathematical Games and Code-breaking
- Participate in regional and national quizzes
- Enjoy events such as the Design Technology Challenge
