🗣️Year 5 led our Senior assembly with a presentation about bees, inspired by their learning about World Bee Day. Held annually on 20th May, the date marks the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping, and has been designated by the United Nations to raise global awareness of the importance of bees and all pollinators.
As part of their oracy work, the children practised their presenting skills and grew in confidence speaking in front of the school — and each pupil even shared a bee joke! A special mention to Bea, who we especially missed on the day — what a perfect name for this topic! 🐝

Our Year 6s channelled their inner forensic scientists 🔬
In teams, they worked to solve a historical crime using real forensic procedures — including DNA electrophoresis — to identify the victim 🧬
The workshop is run by @thinkersineducation, and our students delivered. One team — Jakob, Edie, Oliver, Husna, Ida and Albie — set the 4th highest score since the workshop launched, and both sessions ranked in the top 30% overall!
