Nursery

Little acorns nursery offers a warm, happy and stimulating environment. The educational focus is on structured play but includes first steps in reading, writing, numeracy and ICT ensuring the children are well prepared for entry into the reception classes.

Within the nursery, there is a ratio of 1:8 and a maximum class size of 24 with 1 nursery teacher and 3 nursery assistants.

Sessions And Entry

Children are invited for a taster session in the nursery. This is preferably done the term before they are due to start. In the nursery, children can be dropped off for morning sessions between 8.30am and 8.50am and run until 12.30pm.  A full day is from 8.30am- 8.50am until 3.30pm. (We run before and after school clubs so that children in EYFS can be dropped off at 8.00am where they will be supervised in the Early Years area and can stay until 6pm.) Minimum sessions are 3 mornings or 2 full days. Offers are made on the basis of spaces being available and following a decision as to whether or not a child would be able to access and benefit from the school’s curriculum.

Staff in the EYFS are skilled in identifying and developing children’s interests, and in fostering their natural curiosity.
