We are Year 3

WHY JOIN US AT YEAR 3?

The Junior School years are exceptionally important as children grow tremendously in independence, which in turn leads to greater confidence and self-esteem. We encourage academic success and the work is differentiated to ensure that your child progresses through successful steps and starts to take more responsibility for their own learning.  At the same time we value qualities such as kindness, good manners and respect.

In Year 3 we have a balanced curriculum where the children benefit from teaching by specialist teachers for Spanish, French, ICT, PE, and Music. At the same time our pastoral provision is exceptionally high as they are very much under the wing of a form teacher who liaises with the specialist teachers to ensure excellent communication and provision.  In Year 3 the classroom teacher is still supported by a Teaching Assistant, continuing the teacher to pupil ratio of 1 to 10.

Three times a week we have a staff briefing where the children’s welfare is paramount, any concerns are highlighted to ensure that all staff can support those children who for whatever reason require extra TLC. Our desire is that all children thrive at Chesham Prep and we all know that this is only possible when a child is happy, secure and is well known and understood by the teachers who are working with him or her.

From Year 3, you chill will begin swimming lessons and will experience for the first time playing as a member of a sports team against other schools.

On leaving Chesham Preparatory School our children go on to a variety of schools.  Mr Beale, the Headmaster, is always happy to meet with our parents to discuss their child’s strengths and suggest suitable future schools. Approximately 2/3 will qualify for Grammar School places, but not all will take up these places, and will either stay at Chesham Prep or move to independent schools
